Back with another WCW post, actually on Wednesday this time!
I’m going to apologize now for the lack of consistency on these articles but unfortunately this girl has to pay her bills and sometimes regular life and my regular old job gets the best of me.
But back to what were here for, yesterday morning I woke up to some exciting news:
I am so stoked for a new sports franchise to come to Los Angeles, especially for it to be a women’s sports team.
The team will be the first woman-founded, majority woman-owned professional sports team and I am here for it.
There is a lot I can say about Women’s sports, and while it has come a long way I think we still have a long way to go before women athletes and women’s sports are recognized with the respect and admiration they too deserve.
With that being said, this week I am crushing on the entire United States Women’s National Team.
Not only is the current USWNT incredibly talented and badass athletes, they are also actively fighting for equal pay.
In 2019, all 28 members of the US team filed a lawsuit against the Unites States Soccer Federation for gender discrimination.
This past year the team entered the FIFA Women’s World Cup on a 21-game winning streak. That year, after winning the World Cup they also became the first team in history to win four Women’s World Cup Titles.
And it is not only the current USWNT that is kicking butt.
From 1991-2015, the USWNT medaled in EVERY World Cup and Olympic Tournament.
The women of the US Women’s National Team are truly incredible athletes who should be respected, admired, and cheered for.
Make sure to tune into their next game and show your support.
And to end today’s WCW blog, I will leave you with some words from a current USWNT player, Allie Long:
