What a weekend! The NFL Draft concluded on Saturday April 25th and there was still plenty of talent left in rounds 4-7. Many people have opinions about the way that the draft was conducted this year, but I was a big fan of the virtual format and even think that Roger Goodell gained some points due to his “goofy uncle” vibe from this weekend. Anyways, here are my grades for each NFL franchise’s selections from this years draft! (quick shout out to ESPN.com for the screenshots of each teams pick)

Arizona Cardinals: B-

The Cards must have been jumping for joy when they saw Isaiah Simmons on the board in the first round, great BPA pick! They followed that with a need pick in Josh Jones, and Jones is gonna play a huge part in helping out Kyler this year. I see value in Benjamin and Weaver can contribute on special teams. Kliff’s crib gets an A+ though.

Atlanta Falcons: C

I hate having to write about the Falcons cause I never know what the hell they are doing. Last years draft was a mess, and this year they were rumored to move up but couldn’t. Aj Terrell fills a need at corner with the departure of Trufant, but the Dirty Birdz are full rebuild mode in a tough NFC South. Quick shout out Orange County native, DB Jaylinn Hawkins, for getting drafted!

Baltimore Ravens: A+

Man fuck, not only did our division rival get quality, they got quantity. Queen at 28 was Daniel Jeremiah’s #1 value pick in the first round and JK Dobbins was a top running back in the 2020 draft class. Major value at WR as well in Duvernay and Proche. Lamar and the boys should be ready to go.

Buffalo Bills: B–/C+

The Bills get on the board in the 2nd round taking Iowa DE Aj Epenesa after he slid into the mid 2nd and follow that with Pac-12 player of the year Zack Moss. Don’t forget that they traded their 1st pick for Stefon Diggs earlier this offseason. The Bills look like they’re loading up the wagons for an AFC East title.

Carolina Panthers: B

The Panthers surprised everyone when they passed on Clemson stud, Isaiah Simmons, but they went with need over BPA. I’m hoping Derrick Brown can fill that need for them. Yetur Gross-Matos and Jeremy Chinn were great value picks in the 2nd. Panthers filled 3 out of 5 needs per ESPN.com and look ready to go in 2020.

Chicago Bears: C+

The Bears could send out an all-TE offense after taking Kmet in the 2nd round bringing up their TE total to 11. They got a solid corner in Jaylon Johnson but other than that they drafted a bunch of names I’ve never heard of, usually the case when you only have 2 picks in the top 50.

Cincinnati Bengals: A-

Homer review, but per ESPN.com the Bengals addressed 5 out 5 needs in this years draft. The Bengals also take home the best QB in the class in Joe Burrow and get him a weapon in the 2nd round, Clemson WR Tee Higgins. Went a little heavy on linebacker and light on OL, but the Bengals have been receiving high praise from many professional analysts on their picks from this year.

Cleveland Browns: B+

The Browns might not have a 2020 hype train like they did in the 2019 offseason but Browns fans should be ecstatic based on the guys they’re bringing to Cleveland in 2020. Delpit and Wills should be day 1 starters and Donovan P-J and Harrison Bryant should be help for Baker Mayfield as he looks to bounce back in 2020.

Dallas Cowboys: A

The Cowboys couldn’t wait to snatch up Oklahoma WR, CeeDee Lamb, in the 1st round. The 17th overall pick was a BPA pick for the Boys and Jerry Jones was shocked that Lamb was even on the board. Diggs should fill in for Byron Jones and the Boys got elite value in Biadasz and Anae in the 4th and 5th round. Plenty of happy people in the Big D.

Denver Broncos: B

Drew Lock was probably the littest guy in Denver on draft night. The Broncos got some new toys for the Mizzou QB. Denver took Jerry Jeudy at 15 and KJ Hamler at 46 to help lighten the coverage on their former 2nd rounder, Courtland Sutton. Denver also filled 3 out of their 5 needs and look to take a shot at Patrick Mahomes and the AFC West crown.

Detroit Lions: A-

Many rumors floated around about the Lions trading their #3 spot, but they stood strong and landed their lockdown corner, Jeff Okudah. They then paired the talented Georgia running back D’Andre Swift with Ohio State guard Jonah Jackson in the 2nd and 3rd round. The Lions seemed to have access to my coveted 2020 Draft guide were I said “Draft OSU guys.” The Lions filled 4 out of 5 needs, but their 5th need is a QB per ESPN, so the Lions filled 4/4 of their needs going 100% in the 2020 draft.

Green Bay Packers: D-

Tough draft for Packers fans, now Jordan Love could go on to be another great Packers QB, but the Packers are in a “win now” mode and unless Love can play WR, he is of no use to Aaron Rodgers. Aj Dillon was a productive back in college but I’m not a big fan of a big ACC running back. Cap this draft off with 0 WRs taken, it looks like Rodgers’ time is almost up in Green Bay.

Houston Texans: D+

Bill O’Brien with some more head scratcher’s on draft day. No weapons or protection for Deshaun Watson in the first 3 rounds. They Filled 3 out of 5 needs, but the Texans should start by drafting a general manager that actually knows what he is doing. Coulter was good value in the 5th round and I hope he can help Deshaun in 2020.

Indianapolis Colts: A-

Indy had to patient on day 1of the draft, but day 2 the ponies went wild! Taking Michael Pittman Jr at 34 and Jonathan Taylor at 41 means that those two should be instant impacts in the Indy offense. New Colts QB, Philip Rivers, should be happy as his team supplied him with weapons and some help on defense. Indy also took Washington QB, Jacob Eason, in the 4th round and he could eventually fill in for Philly Rivers *eye ball emoji*

Jacksonville Jaguars: B

The Jags capitalized on their 3 picks in the top 50 by taking Henderson CB, Chaisson EDGE and Shenault WR in rounds 1 and 2. Jags’ QB, Gardner Minshew, should be stoked knowing that the Jaguars didn’t take a QB until the 6th round. This should lock in Minshew as the day 1 starter for the Jags. The Jags go 5 for 5 on filling their needs per ESPN.com

Kansas City Chiefs: B+

The Super Bowl champs went with quality over quantity in this years draft by taking 3 players that could be starters by training camp’s end. Edwards-Helaire was the sexy day 1 pick, Willie Gay Jr. was the 2nd round linebacker and Lucas Niang was the 3rd round tackle. The Chiefs are a really good young team and they just added some more pieces on their road to a repeat.

Los Angeles Chargers: B+

The Chargers social media had a field day during the draft because the Bolts were active early and often this year. They landed their future QB from Oregon, Justin Herbert and Oklahoma thumper, Kenneth Murray in round 1. The Bolts also boosted their WR room by picking up Ohio State WR, Kj Hill. Look for the Bolts to be active this year not only on social media but on the field as well!

Los Angeles Rams: C+

The Rams have been in limbo ever since the Super Bowl loss a few years ago to the Patriots, but after losing Gurley this offseason the Rams drafted the explosive FLST running back, Cam Akers, and Alabama linebacker, Terrell Lewis on day 2. The Rams have the weapons to be successful in the NFL, they just need QB Jared Goff to piece them all together and lead them to the NFC West title.

Las Vegas Raiders: B–/C+

The Raiders drafted really well in 2019, and they follow that up with another draft class full of potential. I know Ruggs III was the typical Raiders pick, and while he’s not my favorite WR in 2020, Ruggs III can open holes for Jacobs and Waller down the field. Arnette, although was taken a bit early, is a dawg from Ohio State and Tanner Muse was a key piece to Clemson’s very successful teams for the past few years. Also love Amik Roberston. Would have liked to see Eason, Fromm or McDonald in the later rounds.

Miami Dolphins: B+++

The Dolphins might have 200 guys on their roster after the 2020 NFL Draft and 2020 Free Agency. They filled every need, per ESPN, by trading for 49ers versitle back, Matt Brieda, over the weekend. Obviously they got Bama QB, Tua Tagovailoa, without having to trade up. The special Alabama QB does have some injury history, but the Dolphins are in a rebuild mode. Keep an eye on them to be a force in the AFC East in 2021 and on!

Minnesota Vikings: A (I guess)

The Vikings, much like the Dolphins, drafted 69 guys this weekend. ESPN has them filling 5 out of their 5 needs, and that will happen when you draft so many players. Jefferson was their first pick at 22 overall and they followed up the LSU stud by trading back up into the 1st round and snagging TCU CB, Jeff Gladney. They took 11 players in day 3, so look for a ton of position battles in Minnesota’s training camp. Shout out Troy Dye, rooting for you bro!

New England Patriots: C+?

Bill Belichick is another coach I have trouble grading because he most likely is playing chess while we’re all stuck playing checkers. A D2 player in the 2nd round and back to back tight ends in the 3rd? Probably future hall of famers for all I know. Do you Bill Belichick.

New Orleans Saints: C+

Tough too nail on draft picks when you only have 4 of them throughout the entire draft. I like the Ruiz and Baun pick value wise. Trautman should be fun to watch in that Saints high-flying offense and Stevens should look real nice holding a clipboard during training camp. Better luck next year NOLA.

New York Giants: B-

The Giants surprised everyone early on Thursday night by taking Thomas over Wills Jr., but that was their guy. I’ve heard around the league that Thomas was the most technically sound tackle and was a hair more developed than Wills Jr. Love love love the 2nd round pick, McKinney the safety out of Alabama. The Giants filled 4 out of 5 needs, per ESPN.com, just missing out on a wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft.

New York Jets: B

B’s all around the Big Apple as the Jets drafted need over “best player available” in 2020. An offensive lineman was mocked to the Jets all off-season and on Thursday night we find out it’s Louisville lineman, Mekhi Becton. Mims and Davis are athletic as can be and should fill in and are upgrades at each position. Bryce Hall was a day 3 value pick and should step in at some capacity almost instantly.

Philadelphia Eagles: C

The Eagles pass on the LSU National Champion WR, Justin Jefferson, and took Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts in round 2. So it’s safe to say that the Eagles are definitely rolling the dice on their first two picks. I like Driscoll and Tega Wanogho from Auburn to help protect Wentz or Hurts. Would have liked to see another DB taken in the first 4 rounds, but Philly feeling risky and hoping they hit on Reagor and Hurts!

Pittsburgh Steelers: C–

The Steelers ignore 3 out of their 5 needs in the draft (QB, OT and TE) and instead go with Notre Dame big man Chase Claypool at 45 overall. Anthony McFarland Jr. is a good player out of Maryland, but I don’t see where he generates touches from in this offense. Pittsburgh failed to land Jameis Winston this week, so I think they should have gone with a QB at some point in the draft. Maybe Fromm or Eason? Nope. Maybe next year.

Seattle Seahawks: C+

The best part about being a good team? You can treat draft picks as if they were a luxury. None of these have to play this year and Seattle can groom and develop these draft picks before throwing them out there. I like Brooks from Texas Tech and LSU G Damien Lewis. Russell Wilson and the boys look ready to battle for another NFC W run!

San Francisco 49ers: C++

Im not a huge fan of South Carolina’s Javon Kinlaw, but I still think the 49ers did well this weekend. I love their 2nd round pick, Brandon Aiyuk, an absolute stud wide receiver from Arizona State. Just like Seattle, the 49ers picks don’t have to play right away and they can develop under Kyle Shanahan as they prepare for another Super Bowl run.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: B–

The Bucs murdered 2020 NFL Free Agency and they added a cherry on top in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Bucs added more “Tom Brady Insurance” in the 1st round by taking Iowa tackle, Tristan Wirfs. They got tremendous value in the 2nd round when they drafted Minnesota safety, Antoine Winefield Jr. The Bucs hit on 4 out of their 5 needs per ESPN.com. Tom looking forward to #7.

Tennesse Titans: C+

The Titans are another good team with not very many holes on their roster. They bolster up their offensive line late in the 1st round by taking Georgia tackle, Isaiah Wilson. They also got a projected 1st round corner back in Kristian Fulton in the end of the 2nd round. The Titans took a flyer on the Hawaii gunslinger QB, Cole McDonald and App St running back, Darrynton Evans. Titans back in the playoffs in 2020.

Washington Redskins: B–

They get this grade solely based on their first round pick, Ohio State Edge playe, Chase Young. Young should be a day 1 pro-bowler and a force to be reckoned with in 2020. The Redskins follow that up with LSU’s Saahdiq Charles in the 4th and Liberty’s Antonio Gandy-Golden, two guys who were label as late round sleepers. The Redskins nailed 2 out of 5 needs per ESPN.com and are looking to head into 2020 with Dwayne Haskins at QB. Trevor Lawrence 2020?

Thanks for reading! Let me know which teams you guys agree or disagree with me on!
