We did it. We made it Bengals fans. The Bengals just drafted Joe Burrow #1 overall and I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t describe what a roller coaster this journey was. From being optimistic like every NFL fanbase was in September, to bummed out in November, pushing for Tua in December, losing to the Dolphins, watching Burrow win the Natty and the Heisman, after all the reports of trades and Burrow not wanting to play here and finally, we are here, the Bengals selected Joe Burrow #1 overall to lead this franchise to greatness!
Earning the honor of having the #1 pick in the NFL Draft is hard enough. Usually that team is 1-15 or 4-1, and a season that was supposed to be full of optimism is usually crushed in September or October.
The 2019 Cincinnati Bengals were no different. Last year was difficult. From Ryan Finely to losing so many close games, they just couldn’t get it together. The Bengals went 2-14 for the first time since 2002 and they had a losing record for the fourth year in a row. This year was rough for me as a fan and as a human. I’ll put this on the record, if you asked me in August 2019, “Would you trade a 2-14 season for the #1 overall pick?” I would have probably told you to fuck off.
Every year the goal is to make the playoffs. Sure, a Super Bowl would be nice but realistically once you make the playoffs anything can happen.
This off-season has been a roller coaster, many reports came out, bashing the city of Cincinnati and the Bengals franchise. The Bengals obviously earned the #1 pick by going 2-14 and let me tell you that ride has been a whirlwind for my brain.
But we got him, Joe Burrow, is the grand prize of the 2020 NFL Draft and the Bengals picked the perfect year to go 2-14. Burrow is a highly touted prospect and has even been compared to former NFL greats such as: Steve Young, Tom Brady and even Aaron Rodgers
And he plays like it, Burrow shined brightest in his senior season at LSU. He won the Heisman trophy his senior year along with the 2019 National Championship. My favorite showing was in the 2019 Peach Bowl where Burrow threw for 7 TDs and ran for 1.
I’ll leave you guys with this final thought, hear me out @ Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cleveland watch out, we’re coming for the north.
Can’t Wait for 2020, I look forward to seeing Burrow drop 7 TDs at Paul Brown Stadium and taking the AFC North back from Pittsburgh and Baltimore. We dealt with Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton and now it really is a new dey because we got our guy, Joe Burrow, he’s home.
